Early checks can make later treatment clearer

The current clinic guidance recommends orthodontic evaluation from age 7. In some children, early interceptive treatment may be advised before all adult teeth are through.

Signs that may need early review

  • Finger or thumb sucking habits
  • Jaw size concerns in relation to facial growth
  • Baby teeth falling out very early or very late
  • Deep bite, crossbite, or prominent upper teeth

Space maintainers may be recommended when baby teeth are lost early.
